Sharepoint - 2 Month Review
I have written tons of how to articles a handful of reviews on the newest WSS 3.0 Sharepoint service.
So, why am I writing another review?
That is an excellent question and the answer is very simple. After 2 months of use, you gain your own experience and opinion on a certain thing and your examination matures. Now, this review is going to be an overall review based on 3 things.
1. User Friendliness
2. Effectiveness
3. Longevity
Let's start from the top.
1. With all of the great marketing Microsoft has done for Sharepoint and all of the very loud hype about the service it is hard to determine the true from the false. So what I will try to do here is break this down into my experience and leave out any outside influence.
Here goes nothing.
Sharepoint is EXTREMELY user friendly!
Yes, that is my review. There are no other words or babble.
2. Effectiveness
SP rates 9 out of 10 in effectiveness. The loss of the 1 point is through no fault of Sharepoint's. The loss of the 1 point is actually because I have noticed that after the initial excitement of the new program, the buzz wears off and your team does not use it as much. Other than that the program is stellar in this area.
3. Longevity
This kind of goes with what I was saying in the "Effectiveness" review. If the team would continually use the service, it would rate 10 out of 10 in this area. So in other words, my team is lazy and SP is excellent as far as longevity is concerned.
